Default Hi There from a brand new member!

    Hi,

I was doing a little search on the subj. of astrophotography and Mac computers which led to a hit at this site and as long as I was here, I decided to join up.
I have to tell you that I was an active Cloudy nites member for some years but did not want to be on that site anymore.
Instead, I found better homes with various yahoo based user groups. All the details and camaraderie, not too much of the politics or mind controlling admins!
So, I am a bit leery of astro websites but I thought that I would give this one a tryout.
Instead of reading my profile, I can tell you that I am a refractor nut and that I have owned almost every type of telescope which helped me decide on refractors as my goal.
I have owned a number of fine instruments, but realized my dream refractor several years ago and that is a 155EDFS.
I don't even have to mention a makers name, you all know what I'm talking about!
I mount my dream on a Losmandy G11 with the Gemini 2 astro positioning system. I have been a member of the Gemini 2 beta team and I like to help folks with their G11's, if I can...
I do a lot of visual observing, followed by video astronomy with my Mallincam Xtreme which I have owned for 3-5 years. Things get a bit fuzzy once you become a senior citizen, haha!
I have had many bino viewers, settling on the denks for about 3 years now. I recently obtained a binotron 27 (i think it's a dumb name!) but it works real well and has improved in some nice ways over my Denk II which was an improvement over my TV binoview which was an improvement over...u get the pic!
I have many TV lenses and all sorts of other expensive accessories! So I am a typical amateur astronomer except that as a former autoshop teacher and ex electrical engineer, I am very good at fixing things that are both mechanical and electronic in nature! Sounds ideal, huh! It is , but fixing everything myself is also a curse! I cannot just pay someone
and be done with it. Nope, I got to get out my top/bottom boxes, oscope and soldering iron and have at it instead of just being wealthy and paying someone!
So, Hi everyone, I will just look around and I hope that I like what I see and that for all of you, its almost the same.

    Best,

    Ross

    Hi Ross,

Welcome to the Astronomy Forum and thanks a bunch for taking the time to post your introduction. I'm a CAT guy myself but recently got hold of a ST80A that has certainly started raising some questions in my mind like if this is what a $100 refractor can do; what will a better one do?

Hi and thanks for all the welcomes! This required a real effort by u guys and gals, to read my post which looks to be terribly formatted!
I guess I will have to start my membership with a Mac or IOS troubleshooting thread as that was written on either my new biggest/fastest/graphicalistic macbook pro or my iphone6!! Anyway word wrap seems to be unravelled.
I happen to be just heading outside to mount my 155. Missed a star party tonight as I sprained my ankle mtn biking Thursday and so didn't want to xport all my gear up the mtn and back downo on my poor ankle...
