Wow fascinating, I would be very curious about the technology that went into designing objectives and layering glass back then. Is it an apo or achromat lol? I would love to see this telescope in person. Good luck raising the money needed to fix it!

Here's a cool quote from the amazing Emily Lakdawalla on seeing the Clark Telescope for the first time:
"It is very steampunk! The metal... It almost feels like wrought iron, that funny combination of handmade and mechanical. It's something I've noticed even on modern spacecraft. The most advanced instruments of any kind, whether it be a telescope or a Mars rover, everyone of them is handcrafted! There's only so much of it that comes off the shelf and assembly line. That really came home to me when I looked at the Mars rover and saw all the little knots holding the wire bundles together; every single knot had been hand tied. That's one of the earliest human technologies! And so this telescope is kind of the same. You know going in there that there is no telescope quite like this one, there is no dome quite like this one. It was all crafted to its unique purpose and then it has to be maintained. You look at that machinery and you know that it can't operate without continuous help from human hands, coddling it, making sure that it continues to work so you really do get that feeling that it's an extension of people, as opposed to just an unnatural mechanical thing. It's a way that we extend our senses and enhance our own human capabilities."

Great video for a good cause, and you're obviously no amateur at this. Plus you get to work in an observatory...I'm jealous (on both counts)

I visited Lowell Observatory back in 1999. I have read many books about Percy and aslo many books that he wrote himself.

It's a great cause, but time is running out to donate! It appears they're going to be a little short - but hopefully it's enough to get started.

Funny! It is a singlet - there's a photo of them cleaning the objective lens in the gallery
