    I beg to differ on that article's assertion. In 2004 over 850 people viewed the Sun in visible light and in H-alpha through my telecope at the Jet Propulsion Laboratories Open House in Pasadena, CA. THere have been other astronomy outreach events in Southern Californai that have drawn even more.
