Default What is paradise about this?????

Day after day the weather has been lousy here as of late.

This struck me as added insult to see this oxymoron. Paradise clear sky chart....yeah right!

    Not my idea of paradise.

I hear you. It's been a month and a half since I've seen the sky. If I didn't have AF.net to get my astro-fix, I'd go crazy.

I have been visited twice by the "half curse" this week. 3 days ago, I checked the sky and Jupiter, Orion, the Pleiades were just brilliant. Then I noticed the ligthning and dark clouds coming in off the ocean to the east. Last night I went out to look for Leonids, and same thing, except this time the front was coming in from the usual north west. By the time I could get a scope out and set up, it would be all over for any viewing. Definitely not paradise.

It's unfortunately been almost that long for me as well. My last good night (not spent working) was right before Sandy hit the east coast.

Cheer up lads. Good weather is on its way to you.

I had THE night of the year so far last Friday at the observatory. I had taken my new little 127mm Mak with me to show my colleagues. Everything was so still and dark that they couldn't believe the excellent images it was showing.

I reckon that little patch of ideal viewing weather should be at least three quarters of the way across the Atlantic now. So get ready, get your collimation done, nip down to the store and spend a fortune on some new eyepieces. It will be worth it, that's a promise!
