Default Astronomy 2012 Weather (where you are)

Well folks, we are halfway through the year and here in the south of France, viewing conditions have been generally very poor so far.

We had some decent skies back in February (albeit in sub zero temperatures) but since then we are not even averaging one reasonable night a week. My scope is going rusty from lack of use!

I know its also been rough in Britain. Where in the world are you and have you been enjoying reasonable (normal) weather in 2012?

After nearly 10 years of draught and lots of clear sky nights, the weather has turned.
Here in Melbourne, Australia we have had a long run of cloudy nights and lots of rain since the end of summer.
Last night the cloud lifted, just as the fog dropped, so I missed out again.
We get the odd clear night but no where as consistant as it was several years ago.
We cannot complain we need the rain, dams are back to 70% after being down to 35 a few years back.
Hopefully this weekend and next will be clear :-)

Here in my part of Northern California, it's been generally mild (I really appreciate not living east of the Rocky Mountains right now). I'm about 35 miles east of San Francisco, and the weather is usually more cooperative than in SF itself. Because of the topography, the fog will sometimes fill in through the various passes and valleys out to where I live. Overall though, I've been able to squeeze in observing sessions Friday and Saturday nights more often than not.

its monsoon season here is Southern Arizona which means cloudy/rainy afternoons and evenings. The overcast usually does not clear off until just before pre-dawn. Summer, beleive it or not, is not the prime observing season in the desert southwest. I went 3 months last summer before I could take my scope out.

Three months! Can anyone beat that for an enforced period of inactivity?

Denver, CO here. Been out twice since Feb. First is was the extreme heat (100+ for days, weeks in row), then the whole state caught fire. Now it's cloudy and raining for as far out as the weather channel shows. Needless to say, waiting for Fall.

Well, in Bavaria, this has been a bad season for the astronomy, and for the other outdoor activities and sports, as well.

    Hoping for better times
