Most, including myself, prefer a 2x Barlow due to the fact that it provides a clearer, less distorted magnification.

I wanted to just write "1X"...

    A 2x Barlow with a 30mm EP will make it effectively, a 15mm EP.

    A 3x Barlow with a 30mm EP will make it effectively, a 9mm EP.

You need some pretty steady skies to view with a 9mm Ep and an average focal length scope..750-1200mm's.

Best to stick with a 2x in most cases.

    Cheers

    Paul

I have two. 2x barlows I use regularly. But I have acquired a televue 3x barlow which I've noticed isn't cheap. I was considering selling the televue 3x because i don't see myself using it very often.
