I recall when Brian Schmidt and his team first announced their findings, the astronomy world was shocked at the obvious mistake the team had somehow made.

Years later they are validated Good to see a smart Australian boy make good

you know what i find wrong? Hubble didnt get any Noble prize, even though he first discovered the expansion of Universe ! and Eisntein didnt get either! even through thanks to his laws of relativity, those people were able to make those discoveries ! life ain't fair, right??? so sad....

Hubble couldn't win the prize because during his time, astronomy was considered a separate science to physics and one the Nobel committee did not have an award for.

For a booby prize though they named a space telescope after him which I think in the grand scheme of things has given him far more fame than a Nobel prize would have

I definitely think Hubble got the better deal with the telescope.

When they gave a prize to Obama on the speculation that he might do something impressive some day, the Nobel Organization kinda turned their "prize" into something on par with the kind you get in a Cracker Jack box.

I don't know for sure - but I have never met a scientist who does not admit they stand on the shoulders of giants
