Default Am I in the right place?

Just so I am not wasting anyone's time I will give a brief description of what I am trying to achieve and then people can let me know if I am in the right forum

I live in Australia and often visit remote outback locations where we are blessed with fantastic night skies. I would like to be able to capture some of these skies with my DSLR. The gear I have available includes Canon 7D MarkII, Sigma 8-16 f4.5-5.6, Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.0 and a Sigma 30mm f1.4. I have other lenses but they are telephoto and I don't think that they would be suitable for what I want to achieve. I have done a lot of research on the subject and I am aware of the 500 rule (and the need to adjust for a crop sensor) and how it applies to exposure times.

If I am in the right place, I have so many questions to ask.
    TIA

I'm not looking to get any deep space images, just some nice milky way images with perhaps some nice foreground for interest.
