    Default M51 with 400mm Lens

Feeling a bit left out this time of year due to my max focal length being 400mm, decided to give M51 a go. I need to start doing Flats and Bias frames as when processing this it was obvious the image was covered in noise and issues. Image is a little dark (To hide my flaws!). Dithered and Drizzled to try and get a bit more resolution in image so I could crop a bit tighter on the Whirlpool. Fairly happy with result.

It's really a cool capture of the M51 in a wide field!

The photographic telelenses, especially the Canon L series, can be hardly beaten.

    Thanky for sharing,

Fine image, and as a photographer I've often thought that particular lens without the massive weight of F4 400mm lenses is a true gem (and I don't use Canon gear).
