Got any general recommendations? I don't have a huge budget... after EQ GoTo mount, some various adapters and filters, etc... I can't spend another $1000+ on another scope. I'm MOSTLY interested in DSO photography, but looking forward to this summer when our big planets are in view.... Of course for those, eyepiece projection or 2x/3x barlow on my XT8 are not as undesirable... and for imaging them, I'll use my webcam that is already modded and registax. So...size (objective) and focal length recommendations for DSO's, like large nebula and galaxies?

Here's my recommendation, instead of throwing money at a set up full of frustrations. https://astronomics.com/astro-tech-a...ck_p18263.aspx

Good DSO imaging scope that will ride very easily on your mount.

If your into planetary then a C8 is a great choice. I found mine for under $300

So in follow up, I bought a 6", 610mm, newtonian astrograph for DSO's. At just 22" length, and 12lbs, by 30lb capacity mount will handle it nicely. Being an astrograph, prime focus is no problem. I'll use my XT8 for planetary stuff. I don't mind needing a Barlow for that.
