I have a 60Da and use BacktyardEOS software. No need for an intervelometer. I think you will find most people use BYEOS so your request for a comparison is falling on deaf ears, folks here simply don't use them...

I use an interval timer with my Canon 1000D which uses the same interval timer as does your 60DA. It's a lot simpler that fooling around with a computer. I have an inexpensive, no-brand-name, timer from China via eBay that looks identical to the Satechi MTR-C and has exactly the same features. At $25 I figured it was a throw-away kind of thing. I've had it a couple of years now and it just keeps on going. It's excellent for starting and ending a series of exposures having a common exposure time and a common interval between exposures. The delay time is programmable as are the number and length of exposures made.

The Aputure LCD Timer AP-TR1C Remote Release will do the same job but has more features. The two I like is the lighted display and the delay start. The light display is not that important. Like texting you can easily hold and program the interval timer in one hand and hold a red flashlight in the other. I am not that concerned about night vision when I am photographing as I do not have others around whose night vision is important to protect.

With my Nikon, I use a cheap generic one from eBay - other than having a different name on the case, and a jack plug connector on the cable so you can switch camera connectors, it looks nearly (completely?) identical to the far more expensive Nikon version, and works just as well, with identical features (start delay/exposure time/interval/no of exposures/beep/light, and the option to use it like a normal remote release.. I've seen my device under a number of brand names, so I assume they're probably sourced from the same manufacturer...

I use the Vello Shutterboss on my Nikon D300. I got it from Bhphotovideo for 52 dollars. They make the same thing for the Canon. Here is a link. Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon Cameras with 3-Pin I don't know the exact connector your camera uses. I also don't know the cost of the two you are considering. But this works very well for me. It worked right out of the box.

I'd go with the cheapy one off ebay.. I use one for my 550D, and I've had it since my old XTi..

you really shouldn't have to spend a lot of money on something like this, because when you think about it, it can't be any more complicated than a stop watch.

EDIT - I just checked my ebay history, and the one I got for my 5D mk2 was only $15 free shipping..

EDIT #2 - ohh I just remembered.. if you have a modern android device running 4 I believe (like the SIII for example), you can get an OTG cable for $2 or $3, and then grab the DSLR controller app for I think 8 bucks.. then you can control the camera from your mobile.. gives you live view on it too.. I've given it a shot with night landscape photography.. but it could be something to try..

I ordered the Aputure one 2 days ago, should be here tomorrow or next day. Figured I would use it the odd time while camping if the wife wanted the laptop. Whats an OTG cable? Im running 4 on my SII, another alternative is always good.

OTG is "On the Go".. it's a micro USB cable that puts your phone in host mode so you can plug USB devices into it. I use it on my night shifts sometimes with a game controller, but have also been playing with my T2i with it. I've also plugged USB sticks in to copy files or back ups.

this is the one I got http://www.ebay.ca/itm/330862817868?...84.m1439.l2649 but any of them should work if the OS supports it.. (if not you can always root and throw on a custom rom, like one with some of the new multi window features haha)..

here's the app I was referring to incase you wanted to get more details https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...dslrcontroller .. he has a free app as well that you can try to see if it works once you find a cable.. the free one has a few features. I'm not in any way connected to him, I just stumbled on it one day while looking for photography apps.
