    Question Canon Tele Extender

    Hey there everyone,

I am very new at AP, but old at photography. I have no idea about telescopes, barlows...etc. I wanted to buy 2x barlow but when i take a look photo of a barlow i can't figure out how to attach it or how to use it Anyway i have Meade LX200 8" Autostar II and Canon 5D Mark III and wondering about anybody tried Canon 1.4x or 2.8x tele extenders? With T Ring adapter we can attach it really easy but i have no idea what we will see. Another question in someway if i figure out how to attach barlow front of camera can i use tele extender too at the same time?

Oh and here a Moon photo from me -my first and last AP ever!- Hope you like it.

I can't answer your question, but I will say that is a nice pic with great detail. Especially when you view it in it's full size.

To use a barlow or eyepiece, you need an eyepiece and prime focus adapter like this one: Adapter fr Okularprojektion & Fokalfotografie - 1,25' Anschlu

The main problem using the tele extenders is that the camera will not work without a real lens (or something that looks electrically like a real lens) attached when using one.

If you are just using the tele extender for AP get a Televue Powermate instead, I have never used a tele extender but have a friend who is a professional photographer and she has never liked to use them

    Canon extenders are exceptional quality.
    They are also expensive...

Sorry for late answer. Thanks for compliments to my photo I borrow Canon 1.4x II tele extender from my friend and tried it. As Phil Leigh said i couldn't use it cause camera gives "i cant find any lens bud" error. I read something about it to make it possible -with electrical tape- but didn't want to waste time and damage tele extender. Anyway i bought "Blue Fireball Technologies 1.25" T Thread Adapter for Fixed Eyepiece Projection Photography" and 20mm, 14mm, 9mm and 5.5mm Meade lenses -Thanks to sxinias about idea - So here we go, i tried to test them today but weather is very cloudy. I will share my experiences about these parts after i test them. Thanks to all for responds and helps. Clear skies everyone!

The Canon Tele-extenders are great for use with Canon EF lenses in terrestrial use, but the Televue Powermates are outstanding for use with a telescope and the special T-ring adapter allows for a solid, compact attachment of a camera.
