Default Question about guide scope rings

I have an etx 60 that I am going to use for a guide scope. The telescope is approx 3 1/4in OD, 82mm. If I go with 100mm rings this only gives me about .67in clearance for adjusting the guide scope.

If I go with 125mm rings I will have 1.67 inches of clearance for adjusting the guide scope. For some reason I can't visualize in my head how much bigger the rings need to be than the actual telescope.

I need some input as to the size of guidescope rings I need to buy.

With no astro shops in the area, its not a try them and see situation, its a get the right ones first situation.

I'm looking at the ADM MDS rings and dovetail plates. I have a mini dovetail on top of my SCT so I'm going to take advantage of that.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks guys
    Jim
