Red face Which Canon 50D or 7D?

    Hi everyone,

I've decided to go with a new DSLR and I've narrowed it down to either the 50D or 7D EOS Canons.

Just wanted to perhaps know your opinions on which would be a better camera for astronomy pics given there features etc. I only ask because I know that some are more useful than others for the night sky.

    Many thanks
    Regards
    Adrian

Default I got a 7D and love it

I'm afraid I can't compare astrophotos between a 50D and 7D but I can tell you that I love my 7D. I recently took it out and took some Astrophotos of the moon and stars. I just used a 75-300mm IS lens and rickety tripod but even with that I was impressed with the photos and the low noise even when pushed to ISO 6400.

The 7D specs on paper are a marked improvement over the 50D so if you can go for it I'd recommend getting the 7D. The day photo capabilities and 1080p video capture are awesome too.

Hope this helps in some way.

atharh, many thanks for your response!

definitely a help, I should think I'm heading the way of the 7D by the looks of it

Really looking forward to getting some pics up and start the learning curve of AP too!

    Many thanks again
