Read Before Using Astronomy Classifieds!

These rules are in addition to the Astronomy Forum Terms of Service:

Ability to ADD CLASSIFIED ADS and Respond to a Sale/Item

Currently only members with 50 posts are able to post a classified ad - this is to prevent scams, and unfortunate incidents with untrusted members trying to abuse the system
Currently only members with 30 posts can respond privately (PM) to message a seller or buyer - this is to prevent scams, and unfortunate incidents with untrusted members trying to abuse the system
If you have problems to sell or buy etc beyond 50 posts, please pm the team.

Astronomy Classifieds - Astronomy Forum Terms of Service

• Astronomy forum, its staff, owners, administrators and moderators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses (even if Astronomyforum.net has been advised of the possiblity of such damages), for the sale, trade, or any transactions which may occur between members of the site, whether through the medium of the Astronomy Forum Classifieds, or otherwise.
• Each Astronomyforum.net member who trades, sells, or purchases an item, does so at their own risk and they expressly waive any entitlement to bring any claim against Astronomyforum.net, its staff, owners, administrators or moderators with respect to any such transaction.
• Items listed for sale, trade, or wanted which breach any of the conditions, terms of service of Astronomyforum.net, or at the discretion of the team may be deleted, removed or moved as deemed appropriate.
• Posting of items from manufacturers, vendors or bulk sales of items (i.e the posting of many items within a given time period - subject to astronomyforum.net's and moderating team's opinion) are not permitted. Contact the moderating team about listing items if you are a manufacturer, or vendor. If you are a regular contributing member at astronomyforum.net and want to list many products at one time, please contact the moderating team.
• Persons holding out items for sale shall be truthful in their description of items for sale, and shall not be indemnified by Astronomyforum.net, its administrators or moderators of the site in respect of any claim that a purchaser may have against such vendor under any trade practices or sale of good legislation.
• Astronomy forum . net, its staff, owners, administrators and moderators have no liability for the trader reviews posted by users or members of the forum.
• Creating a thread to sell an item on behalf of a third party is not allowed. The seller must register to the forums and list the item themselves.
• If you have sold your item, please post below your thread as "SOLD".
• Items for sale on other sites shouldn't be listed in the Astronomy Forum Classifieds however exceptions can be made for regular members (trusted - more than 10 posts) of the site. This is to prevent abuse and scamming, and protect astronomyforum.net members.
• If you would like your For Sale, Wanted, or Trade Ad locked or removed/deleted, simply ask a moderator to do so.
• Please don't post replies to someone else's Ad unless it's specifically related to the item - that is, if you're asking relevant questions about it, perhaps with a view to purchasing.
• Keep off-topic and spam posts out of the Astronomy Forum Classifieds. It's not going to help someone sell their item if the threads contain off-topic posts and your post will be deleted immediately so don't waste your time.
• Astronomy forum, its staff, owners, administrators and moderators can at their discretion close or remove the service at any time.
• Astronomy forum, its staff, owners, administrators and moderators can at their discretion, modify the terms of the service at any time.
• Links to other classifieds ads/auctions are not permitted from the Astronomy Classifieds section on Astronomyforum.net and will be removed.

Astronomy Forum Classifieds Etiquette - Important!:

If selling an item, your thread PREFIX (select Prefix next to Title - clickdown box) should be "For Sale: XXXXXXX". Do NOT add this to your title.

If you want to find/buy an item, your thread PREFIX (select Prefix next to Title - clickdown box) should be "Wanted: XXXXXXX"

If you want to trade an item, your thread PREFIX (select Prefix next to Title - clickdown box) should be "Trade: XXXXXX"

The For Sale/Wanted/Trad Ad thread should ideally contain:

1. A description of the item for sale/wanted/trade
2. Picture(s) of the item (the more the better) - IMPORTANT: To have your picture show up next to your ad in the forum as a thumbnail you must attach a picture as a file to your thread/ad. To do this click on Manage Attachments and upload your photo.
3. Cost you are willing to sell it for
4. Postage costs or pickup location
5. Preferred contact method (forum private message, email, phone, etc)
6. Preferred payment methods.

If you have sold your item, please post below your thread as "SOLD"!!


After a sale/trade you MUST post a review of the transaction after you receive the product, so that other members can benefit from the information.

Please be wary of:

• Deals that are too good to be true (they probably are)
• Members that have few posts/no posts on Astronomy Forum.net
• Payments asked to made in Direct wire transfer, Money Order, Cheque or Cash from members on Astronomyforum.net that have very few posts, very little information in their contact details/profile and few friends.
• Please use your common sense and judgement

The threaded style of the forum will allow potential buyers/sellers to interact in public (via replies to the thread) if you have questions about the item.

Alternatively your correspondence can be in private via PM, email, phone etc.

Once an item is sold/found, please post below in your thread to include the word "SOLD" or "FOUND"

Your item should be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. This can include either the first to reply by posting in the thread, or first PM with a stated intention to buy.
