Default The Dobsonian Telescope, A Practical Manual for Building Larg Aperture Telescopes

The Dobsonian Telescope, A Practical Manual for Building Larg Aperture Telescopes” by David Kriege and Richard Berry

I’m thinking about building my own Dobsonian Telescope. On the DYI forum I asked the question about scope designs and BobDob told me to read Kriege and Berry and all my questions would be answered. He was correct.

If you are thinking about building your own Dobsonian telescope reading this book is the first step of the construction process. Whilst the book is targeted for large telescopes 15 inch mirrors or bigger, it is also applicable for smaller telescopes. The book is all inclusive; an absolute self contained repository of the all the knowledge needed to build a successful telescope. No topic is left out ranging from simple strength of materials to grinding your own mirror.

    Thumbs up

Thanks, Joe, for putting out this information for DIY'ers. I would only add that the information on mirror cells is not up to date. There have been major improvements in this area, and is available online.

Got this as a Christmas gift Joe. Already reading it. Lots of really good info for the do it yourself types. Don't know if I'll end up building one myself but the idea is appealing. I can see by scanning through this book I'll have a much better understanding of what's required when I've finished reading it.
