This woman is deranged!! I'll be sure to keep a defibrillator handy should she ever walk in and see my CD and music collection.

I think her schtick has made her a lot of money! Smart lady and I am actually gradually paring down - but it will never be down to the levels she recommends.

She found a cash cow with her book about decluttering your home.

Rerminds me of a Washington Post editorial some 40 years ago, before the internet and email, titled "A Clean Desk is a Sign of a Frightened Mind." The editor explained that he was forced by management to clean his desk. As he did the dirty deed, he went on a trip back in time as long forgotten documents came and went. Finally his desktop was clear and management was happy. He, on the other hand, could find nothing.

There has been a decline in book purchases since the advent of social media in 2003. An other thing I noticed yesterday online was an ad for an AI based service that reorganizes your writing to make better prose. In other words, people are losing the ability to construct grammatically correct sentences and writing down their thoughts. Frightening stuff and portends the further dumbing-down of the Millennial generation.

Absolutely! mp3's have steadied the mass of my collection. In my 20's I could move everything I owned in a '65 Dodge Polara (sweet 383 btw). The bulk of those belongings were one KA stereo system & speakers with 3 Peaches crates of albums.

I've paired down some things in the last few years - but the books an music I just can't part with.

My company went through the 5S desk & shop routine. We lost a LOAD of useful things.
All the 5S scores posted on the corresponding office - a good friend had one that was perfect - the only picture he had was of his
perfect desk and 5S score. I fell over laughing.

Cell phones, tablets and ereaders put book sales in the coffin, social media is just nailing it shut.
I stick up for them more often than not - after all we raised them.....
Millenials - I've got two of 'em - promise they won't fit the stereotype.
AND I don't have enough money (see recent headlines) to buy exam scores.
My wife stuck this up on the wall a long time ago "Prepare the child for the path, not the path for the child" Always thought that was the mistake my generation made bringing them up. (again, see current events)

As for the dumbing down - cut down on the use computers and tablets @ school - The human brain needs context
to help in recall of information that pretty screens do not provide.
