Default Help with astronomy homework?

If I know the luminosity of two stars, 0.5 and 2.0 solar luminosities, how can I calculate the difference in absolute magnitudes of the two stars?
can't use parallax.

I get a differnce of -2.5log(2.0/0.5) = 1.5

but i'm not sure if this is right
are you sure im right... have also thought that as there is a difference of 1.5 in luminosities, then the difference in magnitudes will be

2.512^1.5 = 4
