In so far as "Islamic Astronomy" has a Golden Age, then yeah. They named and described a lot of stars. We still use some of those names today - Algol, for example, is a corruption of the Arabic for "The Ghoul". It was useful for modern astronomy in the same way that the work of the medieval alchemists was useful for modern chemistry. A lot of necessary grunt work in observation, but very little in terms of useful theory.
