Hi there. After enjoying the lunar eclipse, I am in the process of learning how to align my AVX mount (I have a Celestron 8" SCT). I have tried aligning it following the instructions using 2 star alignment and adding a third calibration star but afterwards the mount doesn't point to the correct objects. I live in Chile so I followed previous advice from fellow astrofans on where to point the mount to and adjusted the latitude on it. I believe that the fault may lie in that I am having trouble identifying stars. I wondered if using the Starry Night software can help with the alignment, but it requires aligning the mount first. Regarding my second question, I purchased a focal reducer for my Nikon D5600 (it worked great with the eclipse since it gave me a wider field of view), but I can't seem to find focus when using live view mode and thus I am unable to take pictures (also, there will be star trails if the mount isn't tracking). Any advice is appreciated.
I was laughing in silence last night, since I checked the time zone thing. In my country by law there was a change in the DST concept, so I thought I was in GMT -3 with no daylight saving. However, checking over the web the world says I actually am in DST. I modified it on the hand control and voilá, perfect alignment. I managed to take a very short exposure of the Orion nebula, so now I must try to get the polar alignment right. What I don't get is if my mount is actually tracking an object or not. When I chose a target star, it still moved on the LiveView mode on my camera. Theoretically that should be fixed once I polar align the mount?

Yes, it should be fixed once polar aligned.

It's probably polar alignment. It's pretty easy to tell which.
If the problem is polar alignment, the drift will be north or south, in declination.
If the telescope is not tracking, the drift will be west in RA because the telescope is stationary and the stars drift west as the Earth turns to the east.
You can determine directions on your live view by using the slew function.
