    Your 50mm f/12 achromat has a focal-length of 600mm. It's that length that works with the lengths of eyepieces to produce the magnifications. With that telescope, I don't see why you couldn't reach 100x with it...

    600mm ÷ 100x = a 6mm eyepiece

    But instead of a 6mm, I would suggest getting a 12mm Plossl(50x), and a 2x barlow, for a simulated 6mm, and a power of 100x. Plossls are the barest minimum in performance eyepieces, and aren't very expensive. They're actually quite inexpensive, yet very good performers. Both of these are by Meade Instruments...
