    Default new binoculars.... wow

my nearly 17 year old son recently got his first part time job as as such is keen to buy his family a nice present for christmas, with my wifes input (as its her i speak to about this hobby) he bought me a pair of celestron 20x80 binos with a tripod, my wife insisted i test them out before they are wrapped (then look surprised on the day)

i just used them tonight as conditions were good, whilst using them handheld is not ideal (the tripod is in his room alrready wrapped) they are simply amazing, the Orion Nebula was great, ive not even got around to seeing it through my scope yet.

cant wait to use them with the tripod

I think that your son is really going to enjoy the new binos. I have the Oberwerk 25 X 100s. I use them more than I use my dob. The binoculars are easier to set up and the views are great.
