    Try it without the hub, if you can. If Ok, add a USB extension cable(3m). Add another one, until comms fails. This will determine the maximum length you can go without a hub. That what I usually do. Some devices do not like to "share" a data cable, so try it on it's own in the beginning. Some of the newer laptops have a high power port. Check if you have one and use that.

    Another option is to use an Active USB Extender:

    Thanks Kathy. Next session out I'll swap the ASCOM and ZWO ports and see if it makes any difference.
