    Another vote for the Dob. The light gathering power simply can't be beat and also, it will provide decent views of the moon and planets.

    That is the cheapest I could find on that 8" Dob, the same at most of the dealers. It is commonly sold for that. You can get an 8" Dob from the clearance/seconds site from Orion for less when they have one, which is frequently but not right now.
