I went and looked briefly at the manual for that camera and it does not appear to have a 'bulb' or external shutter control.

It has a manual mode but that seems to be just to override other settings such as iso and or aperture.

If that is true a shutter release cable will not work with your camera regardless of which tracker you choose.

The Skywatcher Star Adventurer is a great little mount for beginner. I have only used with a dslr and asi 1600mm with filter wheel. Can easily get 3min exposures with wide 85mm lens and 90s with 200mm lens. Very portable and easy to setup.

I don't mind going for a higher price if that means more performance (as long as I stay in the "beginner tier" for now). From what I understand none of the mounts will be suited for more than a DSLR camera with a zoom lens, right?

Just another question regarding the iOptron that I can't seem to find an answer for: my camera is limited to max exposure times of 30 seconds. I saw that the Skywatcher Star Adventurer has an option of connecting a shutter release cable to the camera which will allow exposure times of 100 seconds (max right?). Does it work the same way with iOptron? I have a Fuji X-T10 camera.

    Thanks
The Ioptron is more than suited for a small telescope and camera as well as a camera and lens using the counterweight.

Yes the ioptron does have camera control capabilities. If you add a hand controller you can even program exposures just like an intervelometer. I use a separate intervelometer direct into the camera for now.

I looked too and found this page: Long Time-Exposures (T/B) . It looks to me like you can use a remote timer in bulb mode just fine up to 60 minutes. That is a good thing, because if you are limited to 30 seconds you might as well build a simple barndoor for a few bucks.

It also has raw format so the camera is fine. I have a Fuji X-a1 myself so I was surprised at that 30 second comment, just had to look it up.

Ah okay good. I only looked briefly and found it odd that it did not have an external port.

Yes, it has bulb mode. But I still can't understand if I can connect my specific camera to any of both those mounts to take advantage of that functionality. For instance, the product info for this Star Adventurer cable here lists several cameras but no Fuji ones:

I purchased the Skywatcher Star Adventurer Bundle last year primarily for wide field astrophotography of the Milky Way utilizing multiple image stacking to reduce noise and increase the effective resolution of the image file. It works amazingly well, is very solidly built were it counts and very easy to setup and use. As for the comments regrading plastic parts, I admit that the plastic parts that "feel sloppy" are non-functional parts i.e. the polar scope and battery covers. The "feel" is somewhat loose but the fit and function is acceptable considering the build quality and design of the critical device components. While we all have our own opinions and tolerance levels for equipment I chose the Skywatcher Star Adventurer after having the opportunity to physical try both units out from fellow colleagues who respectively owned each unit. I decided upon the Skywatcher Star Adventurer which very effectively does what I want however the iOptron comparable device will also do the job with a DSLR.

The iOptron uses a sub mini connection jack going out like what a Canon T5i/700D series takes to control the camera. Same connection as what's pictured there. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. My question is: is the shutter release cable brand specific? That link that I posted in my post lists many cable types, for different brands but no Fuji.

So, if I buy a iOptron Skyguider Pro can I connect my camera to the tracker? And the same goes for the Skywatcher Star Adventurer.

    Thanks.

Is the mount brand specific? No but your camera must be able to use a tip-ring-sleeve sub mini connection going into the tracker from the camera you intend to use. There are adapter cables out there I'm sure if you can't find the exact single cable. Try Ebay if this is the case. It looks like you can use a release that has a USB connection which and also one that uses a cable with sub mini t-r-s which is perfect. You'd have to verify the size on the camera though. I don't own one.
