    Default Sharpcap issues recognizing cameras

    Hi all,

I have a Starlight xpress SXVF-H9C imaging camera and a loadstar guide camera using Maxim DL pro version 6, and Focus max, and other programs these cameras are recognized and can be used as intended. All cameras are on a USB powered buss and working well with the above programs.

However Sharpcap will not show them in the drop down list even though the web site indicates that Starlight Xpress cameras are supported.

The drivers are in place and working have I missed something, a file from sharpcap that accesses the drivers?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of sharpcap still doesn't see the cameras.

    Thanks for your help

    Tom

I could not get Sharpcap to connect to my lodestar either. Don't think it is supported.

Sharpcap supports Starlight Express and Lodestar series cameras. What version are you using? 3.0 at least is recommended. Recheck that your drivers are up to date in Device manager. I hope it's not from that latest windows security update but if it is you can try uninstalling the update.

Huh thanks for that I just kind of figured it was not supported. I probably have some ancient version though

If your cam is not detected, download the free file: SharpCapPreReqs.exe file from their website. You may have to do this for each SC version you run.

Here's their site: Supported Cameras - SharpCap

You need to use the Sharpcap 3.1 Beta for native support with Sharpcap. It's free to use all of the features while in beta but the license only lasts for 30 days (but you can download it and reinstall it). Sharpcap 3.0 doesn't support Starlight Xpress cameras.

That said, for live viewing, Starlight Live is a better fit for Starlight Xpress cameras. It gives you more camera control and I think it's easier to use. Plus, if you use a Mac, there's a Mac version.

I was able yesterday to get Sharpcap to work by down loading the most current drivers for the cameras. I Went to Dad Dog Development web site and downloaded the most current beta version of the Ascom drivers for SX cameras. This worked well and I was able to use the software to do a drift alignment.
