    Default Meade LX90 help

    Hi all

New to this forum and astronomy (unless you count my dad making a telescope for me when I was 8......nearly 40 years ago!)

Just bought a Meade LX 90 8 inch ACF and have a bizarre problem. I align it no problem, can run the "tonight's highlights" no problem (ie it slews pretty much exactly where it needs to) but if I then try manually look up something I have just seen in the highlights program I am either taken to a completely different and incorrect area of the sky or no movement at all-handpiece just says "slewing" and then tells me it's found what I've been looking for (which is obviously incorrect.......tonight it told me the moon was Andromeda galaxy! I know I'm a beginner but I've got that waxed!)

Any ideas on what I should do?

    Many thanks for any advice

i think you are just centering back on the last object, or re-slewing. Won't actually know unless you give the exact key press sequence. pretty sure you have to hit mode, to go back a few steps, then repost the object and then goto. it's difficult to help, sorry i can't go give you exact sequence, but i think ur scope is normal.

Thanks chinaman4u for your speedy reply. An example of my key sequence would be:
Align, go to "tonight's highlights" and press enter. Scroll to (example) Pleiades and press "goto". Scope slews there no problem. I can continue with the night tour no problem. If I now press mode a few times to get to main menu, scroll to "deep sky" and scroll to Pleiades and press "goto" the scope slews to opposite end of the sky. It does that for all of the objects when I try go to them individually, but is spot on when it's on the highlights. Almost as if the coordinates are different in the database, but that wouldn't make sense. Should I try reinstall my handset software?
