    Default Tele Vue delite

    Hello
I found a good offer for Tele Vue eyepiece 7 mm, less 200 £, but I would like to know if this good idea to Celestron SCT 6; or it would not be very different form Possl Celestron Omni.
    Regards
    Javier

The Delite would a much better quality eyepiece than the Omni.
A brand new one is not much more though.

    Hello Javier,

I have not seen any review or test of the Delite EP on the SCT scopes, but here is a good review of the Delite on the Dobs and refractors, https://astronomyconnect.com/forums/...light-review.1
and here are critical remarks on the above review DeLite 1st Light Review - IceInSpace

Well, 200 GBP is not bad, as the Pentax XW being a reference, costs around 250 GBP.

It all depends on what you already have in your EPs arsenal, and what you are missing.
I have the Pentax XW 7mm, well it's a pretty good 70° eyepiece, and I don't feel like adding the Delite to my hoard.
Should I not already have that Pentax, I would most probably buy that Delite for the 200 GBP.

    And here we are.

Let us know about your decission,

Delites are good quality EPs. But, you have a F10 scope, so the image produced by 7mm EP (0.7mm exit pupil) would be too dim for most targets. Occasionally, under very good seeing conditions you might be able to use 7mm EP on Moon, planets, and for double stars splitting. I have F10 SCT 8" and in the last two years I don't think I ever used EPs below 10mm for anything other than tight doubles splitting. Even for moon and planets on average night I can't use EPs below 10-15mm in F10 scope.
