    Default Eyepiece combination recommendation...

Hello, I recently sold my first telescope + all my eyepieces and now in the process of upgrade / getting new eyepieces.
Yes... I have a new telescope with eyepieces ...
I currently have an AVX with Orion 203mm f/4.9 (1000mm focal length) reflector.
The specs in the webpage tell me that the lowest useful magnification is 29x, highest useful magnification 300x, highest theoretical magnification 406x.

I have a meade 5000 telextender 3x barlow and was wondering what would be a reasonable eyepiece combination.

I was thinking of getting two 1.25" and one 2". (Trying to keep the number of eyepieces to 3 for the meantime...)

1.25" 25~20mm range (for normal use)
    40~50x magnification
    120~150x with barlow.

1.25" 12~9mm range (for planetary use (not sure where else I would need that much more power... Or is there?))
    83~111x magnification
    250~333x with barlow.

2" 35~30mm range (for wider view hopefully I will get to use more of this with the go to mount.)
    28.5~33x magnification.

I think it covers a wide range of magnifications.
Anything you would like to suggest or I should look into?

I did look into some zoom lens but not completely about those too.

Do you have a budget to consider? Sometimes the recommendations will vary greatly depending on what you have to spend.

    Around 100~150 an eyepiece.
I might not made the question clear...
I am looking for advice on with two 1.25", one 2" eyepiece and 3x barlow, would these cover the magnifications that are most useful? In general...
Like I mentioned... I don't know if there is more to look other than planets with 150x plus magnification.
I see a lot of people carry similar focal length eyepieces and was wondering if there is a reason for that too.

That's a pretty reasonable spread. It is not unusual to switch up from 2 inch to 1.25 when you are getting into higher powers.

    Double stars

A tip, when you are deciding on specific eyepieces, check around the net to see how well they take a barlow lens. For some reason some eyepieces seem to do a lot better with barlows than others. Why? I have no idea. Just some practical experience I have had at the scope

yeah, the spread looks good to me, though as it's been pointed out to me recently on the long focal length eyepieces like the 30-35mm, you may want to start taking exit pupil into consideration. 35mm may be too long, I wouldn't go beyond a 30mm for your telescope.

I don't barlow much, but I know the Meade 5000 UWA eyepieces will fill some of the ranges you may be looking for at right around your budget, and they have nice wide views.

If I had that rig and was going to pick three excellent eyepieces, I'd pick the following (all ES 82o)

2" 24mm... perfect "hunting" eyepiece. I also have the 30mm, but it weighs a ton.

2" 18mm... Undoubtedly, the best all-around eyepiece I've ever owned. (I have two of 'em.)

1.25" 11mm... A nice step in the magnification department for DSOs that you found with the 18 or 24mm eyepieces.

Now, if you decide to see if the astronauts left cigarette butts on the moon, pick up a (cheap) Zhummel 3mm Planetary EP. I know it's over-driving your f/ratio, but you can view the moon with a coke bottle. They're great fun for the kids at outreach events.

I with Lowjiber on the 18mm and 11mm ES 82° series (I’d probably be onboard with the 24 mm if I had it!)
I like the ES 82° series all together, they perform very well in fast scopes and don’t necessarily break the bank.

For most of us, once we start using the wide field eyepieces (82° and 100° AFOV) there is no turning back.
The list Lowjiber recommended is pretty good, but a little over your price range. The only change I would make is to go with the 8.8mm instead of the 11mm.
You won't be able to use a 3x barlow that much. The skies at most places will only support 150-200 power most of the time. You will find that you can only use 200-300 power a few times a year.

The ES 30mm 82° is huge and more expensive, but it sure is a nice eyepiece.

    Thanks for all the advice.
Ideally I would like to go with the ES 82* 11mm and 24mm, but it is hard for me to justify that $265 price tag on the 24mm at the moment...
I might have to compromise with the ES 68* 24mm instead and might pick up the ES 82* 11mm.
But there is always that voice asking "Are you sure you are not going to regret?" lol...
