    Default 50 year old beginner

    Hello There

I got my Scope for Christmas and have used it as the winter weather has allowed. So much then in the UK. But an upgrade as of last week was the fitting of the RA motor. What a difference that made! I was able to get line up with Venus as my target hit the go button then concentrate on the focus. Great! Used my Modified web cam to take a stream of it. Fantastic stuff. Still lots to practice though. Currently had to move down south and the light pollution is awful. So I had to use a compass to set up for North as I could not see Polaris. Then drift compensate to see best setting.

Hi Havelock, and welcome to the Forum!

Nice video - sure shows that you had pretty poor seeing. Nice that you were able to capture it.

Hi Havelock. A very nice Venus video from you with the new RA drive. Even here in Florida, US., we can have crystal clear blue skies all day, and then have the clouds roll in by late afternoon or evening. Thanks for sharing your nice video with us, and also to bladekeeper for fixing the link, and the best of regards Havelock, on your next astronomy pursuit.

    Hello Chaps

    I'm still alive!

Sadly my youtube account got terminated due to sneaky shinnanigins by a charlatan on youtube who didn't like being called out on his astronomical BS. If I said 'nibiru' nuff said.

I am now waiting on A canon EOS 1000D to arrive in the next few days. I already have the T2 adapter and have also purchased some baader solar filter film and a programmable remote for the camera. So a bit of Astro and Solar imaging.

    Later!

I came here to find out that this thread started almost in the same period when i got into astronomy first time, on February i bought one scope as mistake and returned it back and that is where all started for me, and too bad i couldn't see the video, was curious what is there.

Another option is that you can upload that video to a google drive and give us a link to download, or use Vimeo as alternative, but if you are not interested in to upload it again or lazy about it then i can understand, hope next time for something else.

I also got my camera, but this is a mono astro camera, the filters later, hope you will be happy with your camera and i will be happy with mine, and wish if i live in Europe or USA, i feel sending camera from there for modification is easier or cheaper than sending it from my country, so i will pass the idea to modify one of my DSLRs i have and just depend on my astro cameras completely.
