    Default 50 year old beginner

    Hello There

I got my Scope for Christmas and have used it as the winter weather has allowed. So much then in the UK. But an upgrade as of last week was the fitting of the RA motor. What a difference that made! I was able to get line up with Venus as my target hit the go button then concentrate on the focus. Great! Used my Modified web cam to take a stream of it. Fantastic stuff. Still lots to practice though. Currently had to move down south and the light pollution is awful. So I had to use a compass to set up for North as I could not see Polaris. Then drift compensate to see best setting.

Hi Havelock, and welcome to the Forum!

Nice video - sure shows that you had pretty poor seeing. Nice that you were able to capture it.

That's a great video HaveLock to say that you only got your scope at Christmas.

Hi Havelock. A very nice Venus video from you with the new RA drive. Even here in Florida, US., we can have crystal clear blue skies all day, and then have the clouds roll in by late afternoon or evening. Thanks for sharing your nice video with us, and also to bladekeeper for fixing the link, and the best of regards Havelock, on your next astronomy pursuit.
