Default Orion Skyview Pro EQ - SAO catalog

Does anyone have a list of all the SAO stars that are in the Orion Skyview Pro hand controller? I am trying to avoid sitting down and going through them one at a time, but may have to.

I use the Nightwatch book and wrote down all the Double stars SAO numbers on the various stars in the different constellations, some came from the "Turn Left at Orion" but when I went into the SAO catalog part of the handcontroller last night, most of them are not represented in the control unit.

I will call Orion tomorrow as well.

The only manual I could find only listed 13,000+ objects but the new one is listed as 42,000+ so contact Orion.
If there is a specific list you want to view in the evening there is the user defined objects list that you can enter yourself and then go through at the mount.

I had thought of the user defined but would it allow for SAO 14908, it wouldn't know what it is, I would think.

If I get the RA and DEC of it I will look at the controller and see if it can be input along with the SAO number, so make my own list

Oh and 14908 is 23 Ursa Major a Double Star.

You would have to enter the RA & Dec of each object. The mount will not know what it is either way, it would just be a set of coordinates to it.

I have been playing out back with the mount while I am cooking dinner, you get 25 user objects #1 - #25 you can put in RA and Dec but no name or anything except a number.

I am going through each double and named star and writing them down and then going to put them or mark them on my charts so when I am doing a star party I know this one is in the controller etc.

It has the Caldwell cat and NGC, not sure it it all of them or not, but time will tell. Someday I plan to get an Ioptron, level and go with 200k objects, so all the SAO would be there, maybe?

From the quick glance I took at the manual it has 109 Caldwell but I did not notice how many for the NGC list. Probably what they have picked as the best.

I use "Nightwatch" by Terence Dickinson as my charts for sessions, I make notes on it etc and add things to it. I am slowly comparing the charts to the controller.

Good observing, hope the mount works well for you.
I took another look at the manual and it said there was 7840 or 7480 NGC programmed. Either way you will be viewing for awhile.

Considering my skies here are Bortle 7.5-8 most NGC's are a hope at best.

I have a street light 70 feet away in my front yard that shines right in my observing platform but I don't bother to try to block it because I am 300 FEET from a large mall to the northeast, a 24 hour Walmart 1/4 mile south and Foxboro Stadium 3 miles south, so that most nights I need averted vision to see Polaris. Saturday night I could see the 3 handle stars of Ursa Major but not the dipper stars.
BUT Cor Caroli looked great AND Mizar and Alcor, well for the first time I saw the Mizar double, a pretty blue star. That is why I am intested in double stars, but also Solar, light pollution doesn't affect solar as much ROFL
