Default Looking to add to my eyepieces to my XT8

Hey guys, I've had my Orion XT8 Dob for about a month now. I love how much more I can see and the ease into which I got into this scope. I am thinking of purchasing this; Orion Expanse Wide-Field 1.25" Eyepieces | Orion Telescopes , just looking for some advice on wether or not I should purchase all four or just buy two (15mm and 9mm) to replace the 14mm explorer 2 and the 6mm explorer 2 that came with my starblast 4.5 that I have been using along with the 25mm plossil that came with the XT8. I've been using "Turn Left at Orion" to familiarize myself with the sky and feel that the explorer 2 lenses aren't very good for magnification. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Clear Skies!

Hi HJ I have not used the expanse eyepieces before but I imagine they would be alright in you XT8, the explorers are decent eyepieces but being Kellners they are better suited for f/6 and slower refractors and SCT/Maks

Buy one and see how you like it, then consider expanding the range. Eyepiece are susceptible to personal preference. One persons love can be another's hate. And there is no sure fire way to know ahead of time

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to buy just the two to replace the 15mm and the 9mm and go from there. I appreciate the input!

Take a look at Agena Astro's Enhanced Wide Angle eyepieces. Same as the Orion Expanse, but about $10 cheaper. I have the 9mm and it works good in my XT8.

I would also suggest a 2xBarlow Hugh_Jazz,This is an inexpensive way to double your magnification choices without breaking the bank--Then if you find a level that suits your viewing you can get a dedicated EP in a format that fits your needs-------------ZX

I have a 2x Barlow already. I bought the XT8 with a 25mm lens and I am a little bored with it. Im looking for a little more magnification with out losing too much brightness like I do with the Explorer II lenses. The Explorer lenses seem to give me a little trouble when I am trying to split double stars also. Im also not looking to buy a gaggle of eyepieces either. So I will probably go with the 9mm and 15mm
