    Default Agena Astro, GSO Eyepieces

I was thinking about getting Agena Astro 1.25" enhanced wide view 9mm and GSO 2" super view 30mm eps, I can get both for $109. I have a sky watcher 8" dob 1200mm f/5.9. I am interested in planetary and deep space objects. What are you thoughts about these eps or what would you recommend for this scope. I am on a poor man astronomy budget.
    Sky Watcher 8in Dobsonian.
    Eyepieces: Agena Astro 1.25" 6mm 66 UWA, Agena Astro 2" 32mm 70 SWA,

    Happy Hunting and Clear Skies.

I can't speak for the Agena Astro EP, but I can talk about the GSO.

I've got this EP, and it's a decent eyepiece. With my f/5 scope, it does exhibit some coma around the edges of the FOV, the stars in that region turn into comma's. But, that's only on the edges. Over most of the field of view the stars are crisp and sharp provided my collimation is good. With your f/5.9 scope, the view should be even better and the coma will likely be less pronounced..

In fact, with my 30mm, I observed and cataloged the entire Messier catalog. Thus, I declare it a usable and quite functional eyepiece for the cost.

As Bryan says, the 30mm EP is quite decent, however I purchased two of the Agena 9mm EPs to use in my binoviewer. One was good, the other was not. It was only clear in the very (and I mean very) center of the EP. I sold the good one and threw the bad one away. This was before I discovered the ES EPs.

Hi Clear_Sky_Observations. I have had many excellent dealings with Manish at Agena Astro. I also have two 1.25" and one 2" GSO eyepieces, and they are quite good for the money spent. I hope this helps Clear_Sky_Observations, and the best of wishes on your eyepiece purchase decision.

For the 9mm I'd recommend the X-Cel LX from Celestron, I own the 12 and 9mm EPs in this line, both are excellent EPs for the money, I'd say the best of the bunch out of my 8 "poor man" EPs in my collection although all 8 have definitely performed to my liking and more than given my my money's worth. None of the EPs in my signature line cost over $65 and all are of decent quality.

I don't mind the 30mm 2" GSO. I have the same scope as Bryan and I do have coma around the edges, but it honestly doesn't bother me and I think it is a great budget EP.
