Default Binocular viewer on Lunt LS50 ???

Has anyone tried using a bino viewer on a Lunt LS50?

I know that the backfocus on a LS50 is an issue, would a bino viewer on it work?

You'd probably have to stick a Barlow lens on the front of the binoviewer - haven't tried it with an LS50, so i can't be sure whether it'd work, but screwing the lens element from a Barlow onto the nose of one of the generic 1.25" binoviewers worked with a PST. The Barlow increases the magnification, which may or may not be a problem for full disc views, depending on what eyepieces you need.

I think I will call Faye at Lunt as with a CCD camera and the LS50 I had to remove the 1 1/4 part of both the camera and the diagonal and then screw them together to get it to focus.

I think there might not be enough focus range on the helical focuser.

Call this guy Ben Siebert Optics - Home Page I bought his 1.25/2.5/3.5x correcter to get my Binoviewer to focus in my Dob without overpowering it--Works GREAT--I can now get that big ball of a full moon in the supplied W.O. 20mm eyepieces--To describe it as WOW would be an understatement--------------ZX

I will check him out, I have heard from people that most barlow's won't work in an LS50, only the Lunt Barlow does.

I just talked with Faye at Lunt and she has a woman who used the Siebert products to successfully use the Black Night bino viewer so that will probably be the route I go. She also said to talk to Starzona re solar

    One other question

I wear glasses being VERY nearsighted, both eyes are slightly different, so when I use a pair of Binoculars without glasses I have to adjust one EP more than the other. Do bino viewers allow that?

Yes. You can usually adjust at least one of the eyepieces individually, similarly to the way you can with binoculars.

I am still just considering them as the $800 the Black Night and adapter costs (roughly) would buy a go to for my XLT 120 and XLT 102 to share (not at same time) or a Nexstar 6.

I am waiting on the DS50 for my LS50... waiting waiting waiting....
