Question What Software and Apps do you use?

I've noticed a few posts where people show screenshots from software they use for weather and other astronomy-related purposes...

Is there general agreement about certain software & apps that are best, or does everyone have their own favourite?

I'm not familiar with any PC/Web Software related to Astronomy other than Redshift on my PC, but I have an entire iPad screen devoted to Space apps for all sorts of purposes. I haven't tested them all and got rid of the duds yet!

Can anyone suggest any good PC or Web Astronomy Progs? How about iOS Apps? My favourite iOS Astronomy app is StarWalk 2

I'm looking forward to discovering a lot of new software

Hello Robbell! The one I use primarily on the PC is Stellarium. It's free (donations accepted) and it's a pretty darn good piece of software. I use Stellarium on my iPhone too, along with Sky Guide, Star Chart, and SkyView.

Definitely check out Stellarium for the PC. Highly recommended and it's excellent for helping with star hopping too (provided your PC doesn't have sneaky ways of trashing your dark adaptation).

While I have failed to figure out to use Stellarium, Sky Safari suits me just fine.

Sky Safari is one of the best iOS apps around - V4 if you can run the latest iOS version, V3 if like me you're limited to iOS 6.
It's available in basic, plus, and pro versions.

On the PC, check out the excellent (and free!) virtual moon atlas. Stellarium is a good free program.

When out in the field i use on my iphone :
Moon free. This is a phase app and rise set and age app from your vey coordinates by the min incase i need to see how long ive got of dark skies
Sun rise set app : really good for precise rise set duration times
The two astronomy planning apps i use are :
Sky harbinger mainly for atmosphere and cloud cover
Clear outside is my second choice as its layout for twilight dark times and moonrise are good , cloud seeing pickering etc is clear .

If youre in the uk for the pc i use a light pollution map as i want to explore the uk being a landscape astrophotographer
Heres the link they also have a astrophotography light pollution map too. Accurate to the mile !!!

I use Stellarium on my PC and Sky Safari on my iPad. Both are great. The iPhone/iPad version of Stellarium isn't that good, but Sky Safari is great.
