    Question Star Maps?

Why are the positions of East-West shown in the opposite position than on traditional maps?

I got the answer. It's showing the sky as your looking away from earth.

I'm going to try to answer this based on the assumption that I know what you are asking... But then again, I may not.

Imagine an old audio LP album playing the Rolling Stone (The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, or your choice). Now imagine you are above the turntable looking down. The LP is rotating clockwise. Now imagine the turntable is transparent and you can go underneath the turntable and look up. Which direction is it rotating now? It all depends on your perspective.

This may not help at all,

You are absolutely right. That is a horrible omission on my part! I also should have included The Who. Also, if we keep going, this list is going to get very long.

    Thumbs up Re: Star Maps?

I should have noted that is a famous movie quote. Quadrophenia will do in a pinch by the way!

You two have really made my understanding of a star map "rock" solid. Would I be dating myself if I told you I was at the 1st Zeppelin concert in NY. They did most of their 1st album and a few cuts from their 2nd album, which wasn't completed yet.

    Hi Ron,

You may be older, but not by much. I grew up in L.A. and had access to everything rock n roll. I also saw LZ and they and the Who rank as the loudest concerts I ever attended. I was partially deaf for days.

    Lightbulb Led Zeppelin..."

Ron I was at the Led Zeppelin concert in Frankfurt West Germany in June 30th of 1980 on the ( In Through The Out Door) "Tour Over Europe" tour. They then went on to play two concerts in Mannheim ( July 2nd-3rd), Munich (July 5th) and then over to play in West Berlin on July 7th witch was their last concert. John Bonham would pass away two months later in September. So I got to see one of their last concerts and what a show it was indeed..."
