Default Managing attachments and images inserted into posts

I have several questions regarding how we add attachments to, and/or insert images into, our posts on this forum.

    1) It would seem that attachments and inserted images are handled by the same "manager". Y/N?

    2) It would seem that I can only add or insert a total of five (5) attachments and/or images to each individual post. Y/N?

    3) The so-called "manager" seems to be totally random to me...behaving differently each time I try to use it. The FAQ is insufficient. Where can I learn how to do this properly?

    4) It would appear that, if I go to the list of previously uploaded and inserted images and/or attachments and then delete some of them, they will be removed from the particular previous posts into which they are added or inserted. Y/N? I tried deleting just three of my images from that list and they immediately disappeared from those posts. Too bad, sorry guys...it was a really good post.

    5) I have tried three times to compose a post, this afternoon, containing five images in an arranged order and failed on each occasion. Please, is there a tutorial that I use to learn how to do this...possibly even independent of the very frustrating and dictatorial attachment/ image "manager' that governs this forum?

Thanks in advance to anyone who senses my pain and replies out of compassion for a disgruntled newbie. I almost don't want to do this any more after today.

Hmm...I did a reply in a thread yesterday that included a number of images (4 I think, maybe 5). I did them one at a time though because of how I was wording the thread. I clicked on the insert image button which brought up a seperate window with 2 tabs "From Computer" and "From URL". I used From Computer. Clicked on that then clicked on the select files button which allowed me to select my images. Now I had to edit my images to make them smaller since they were 2.5-3 megs in size originally so I had to save them smaller in an image program then I could insert them. I think it said there was a 2 meg limit on image size. When I was done they were 400-600 Kb in size each. Never had any particular issue with it and the images went inline where I wanted them. Now I never tried a bunch in a row so I don't know if the order would change or not. Now I will admit that in the past I've had issues where they went in as an attachment instead of the inserted image I wanted.

OK I realize the difference now. I did this as a Quick Reply yesterday and not as a Reply to Thread or as a new thread and the message box is different. The insert image box seems to be the same in either though, but the Quick Reply doesn't have the attachment button.

I don't know if there is a limit on the number of attachments, I just suspect it is the total size of them. What I find handy to reduce the size if you have a lot of pictures is to select all pictures, right-click --> send to --> mail recipient, then you get a prompt if you want to reduce the size, and to what. Then just pick up the attachment from the email and copy them into a folder "small". Easier than having to load them in Paint and saving them one at a time.

Yes I believe the system keeps a database of pictures that you uploaded before and lets you reuse them as links. In that case, if you delete the picture, all the linked ones will show emptiness. Good for managing the available resources. When I compose a message I usually upload them from my computer using the dialog that pops up when you click on the picture icon. But there is a second way as I found today. To the lower left there is a button "My Photos" that, when you click on it, lets you reuse photos that you uploaded earlier. It also has an option to upload new ones to your albums.

I would also like to know how to set the order in which they are displayed in albums. Apparently it is not ordered by name.

While I'm grateful for your replies, I think that I'm done with all this for a little while.

I've only been on this block a really short time but I do know my limits when it comes to apps and technology and web-stuff. And when it's no longer fun it's no longer fun. I can not believe I gave up so much of my day just trying to post a post on this forum.

The attachment and image thing doesn't make sense to me and I've been unable to help myself in this regard.

Instead, I'm now going to yank the cork on a fine bottle of wine that I made myself (at least I know how to make wine) and ponder the stars that are somewhere up there above those freaking clouds that never seem to go away.

Wishing you all clearer skies in the near future.
