Default Fiting the Celestron cpc 800 finder scope bracket

Hi folks, just unpacked my celestron cpc 800, wow!! its huge, i'm glad i didn't go bigger. Question, i want to fit the finder scope bracket to the left side of the tube, do i use the protruding screws already in the tube, or should there be slightly longer screws that should come with it. That would make sense having longer screws because of the width of the bracket. There are no longer screws that come in the box. The instruction are really crap when describing this. I dont want to take any risks doing it incorrectly. Thanks in advance.

try those 1st, if they arent long enough just go to a hardware and get the same metric size you need in length, i change screws all the time- just dont get crazy an go too long

Thanks for the reply, they are long enough to fit the bracket. I didn't know if they need to be a little bit longer to grip on the inner side of the tube?

You unscrew two of the screws at the rear of the scope whichever side you wish to put the finder and screw the bracket to the ota hand tight using these screws.

Hi Mgztt, I have the same scope, it is a great telescope. I mounted the finder scope the same way, but after using it a few times, when I started to remove the finder, I would sometimes would turn the adjusting screws for the finder instead of the mounting screws thus changing the alignment of the finder. This would happen in the dark, and maybe in a bit of a hurry, so I went to home depot and got 2 metric nuts for the adjustment screws. I added the nuts and realigned the finder, and tighten down the nuts while holding the screws, now inline and will not move by accident. Hope this helps and clear skies.
