Default Got an Orion XT8 and some goodies...

    Hi everyone,

I sold my 114 last week and I was on the hunt for a bigger scope. I scored a mint condition Orion XT8 (original owner was some rich older gentleman). He stated he used it twice, I got all the original boxes/packaging and even the original styrofoam and plastic wrapping! He threw in an Orion Glass Solar filter and 5 Orion Sirius Plossls! I got the 25mm, 20mm, 12.5mm, 10mm, 7.5mm, two of them brand new never opened. He also gave me an Astronomy book; Astronomy The Definite Guide.

He was leaving the country so I came up. Here's the best part; I got it all for 200$! I had to bust a mission and drive 1 hour each way but it was worth it. I am super excited and can't wait until my son wakes up and finds a big cannon in the basement haha! Raining in MD tonight but first chance I get it's going outside. Thank you Lord!

I think this fits into the category of "an incredibly good deal"!

It really is a very good telescope and with the additional goodies thrown in, you made out like a bandit.

Congratulations.... and I am laughing because I worked RETAIL most of my life in Montgomery County and discovered very quickly that (no knock on you or anyone in particular ) that the people in that area are either extremely sharp and tight fisted when it comes money or they just do not care as money means nothing to them...

Guess you found one of the latter ..LUCKY YOU...

Dang that's a good deal. I scour craiglist everyday waiting for something nice to pop up, usually when it does the scope is gone the next day.

Thanks everyone. I scoured craigslist, cloudy nights, ebay etc but couldn't find anything nice. As luck would have it, I simply googled an XT8 for sale in my area and bam! I made out like a bandit. I can't wait to use the solar filter in June to view Venus, woot!
