    Unhappy Seibert Optics?

Working on the cheap, I picked up a used Meade DS 114 reflector with no eyepieces. I had read in a forum a couple places that it isn't be too bad with with 1.25" eps and that you can get a 1.25" holder free from Meade just by calling. Later I noticed that those forums were from like 2003 and the freebie isn't available anymore. Oh well, no big problem. I'll just get an adapter somewhere else. After a little bit of searching, I find one offered by Seibert Optics made from aluminum, not cheap plastic, that screws right onto the DS's 2" focuser. Nice! I order one online, get an email stating that I will be receiving another email with my total price with shipping "shortly" and then...nothing. Haven't heard from him. After a few weeks I start to worry that maybe I deleted the email by accident so I reply apologizing if I missed it and asking if I need to re-order. Wait a week, no reply. Send another email, wait a week, no reply. I think he's a one-man shop, but how hard is it to reply to an email? Has anyone here dealt with him before? I'm getting very frustrated when it's a clear night and I can't test out my find. I have seen the .965" to 1.25" adapters but I see that people often have focusing issues with them. Any other suggestions?

Sometimes, when you try to get things cheaply, you need to really check out the people that you are dealing with before ordering. Have you tried calling the person on the telephone? it only makes sense to call, as e-mails can be overlooked and missed. Always trying to deal with Known reputable dealers that you can verify their existence and their business record. Try the Telephone, or even better, write a formal letter and mail it to him.

Siebert Optics is great to deal with. Its always better to call them than to send e-mails.
