I saw in a previous thread that you were having problems with the LX200. Have you gotten it working properly, or worked anything out with the previous owner?

Nope! It has literally only had error after error every time I try to use it, and I sent an email two days ago about the need for something to get worked out with no reply as of now. I called up Meade and spoke to many veteran LX200 users and the cost of repair will range between a $120 replacement Autostar II controller to $450 plus shipping both ways to get it fixed my Meade. I am terribly unhappy about the entire situation.

You might want to find someone in your area who has the LX200 and see if they'll let you plug in their controller. If everything works with their controller then you'll have a bit more info on what you're dealing with.

I'm trying. No luck so far! I may just have to order one soon.

How deep into AP do you want to get? Are you hoping to just be able to show friends and family some of what's in the sky or are you hoping to get recognized in some way for your images?
With a 10" or 11" OTA an EQ6 mount will work for imaging for family and friends, the mount will be in the 60 - 70 lb range. An astrophotographer would suggest a larger mount for that OTA size, the mount will be heavier (maybe in the 150 lb area).
I've only had an Atlas mount and I've heard other people say good things about it. I wouldn't suggest the newt on the Atlas because a newt isn't the best OTA for AP. The reason I got a newt was because I have to answer to a higher power (my wife).

I hope to eventually be able to take very nice photos one day, not necessarily for recognition, however. Just for self-pride and something to do, really. Is the Edge HD series good? I really like them and apparently they are great for both visual use and astrophotography.
