    Default DSLR Photos of Saturn

    Hello,

I'm wondering if I use a Canon MK IV coupled to a 600mm F4 lens with a 2x and 1.4X converters with a sturdy tripod if decent images of Saturn could be made ?

I see no reason not to try. I would use the 2x tele converter for max focal length and take a video if it has the option, or at least a series of shots and stack them in registax. if the results suck, delete them, thats the fun of digital cameras..

Probably not.. I am shooting prime focus on a 2000mm scope with 12 MP and you can at 1:1 tell it is Saturn. I am pretty sure I will have to go to eye piece projection to get a decent size image.

This is my best so far and I have removed color because of lots of fringing, I Saturn was pretty low in the atmosphere here.

But I agree it never hurts to try.. and if you can shoot video, stacking software will improve it.

    Thanks for the tips.

I don't know a thing about telescopes, I've been a photojournalist for 16 years so I know a fair amount about photography though.

I will shoot a little video when I have a chance in the next few days.

I'm sure I will have many questions on astrophotography in the future.

    Regards
