    I've taken my 10 inch on a few dirt roads in the mountains while still in the OTA and just verified collimation once at the site.

    i was thinking of going a place very deep in the wood. it is a 2 hour on a very very bad road .in the truck it is 2 hour earthquake

    Pack that tube up in the back seat with a bunch of pillows. It will be fine.

    I drive a station wagon.
    I usually position my OTA so that the mirror is towards the center of the vehicle (between the front and rear axels) rather than having the OTA mirror past the rear axel.

    I would suggest wraping it up in some think blankets or a doona.
    and the placing it on the pillows.

    But you will have collimate the scope once you have set it up!
