That is an excellent scope, and I believe you'll be very happy with it.

    Default AC Adapter?

I was wanting to ask about the AC adapters for this Meade. I know they have the "one" for it, which is a universal adapter according to someone else off the forums, which they said if they would of known this, they would of made their own. So I found this one on ebay and was wanting to know if it would work. Its like $50 bucks cheaper than the universal one. NEW 12 Volt DC Power Supply 5 Amp 5A 12V Adapter LCD CB - eBay (item 180640543336 end time Jul-15-11 00:38:33 PDT)

Off telescopes.com it says the one that I was looking at is a 12v, 5amp with a 5.5mm plug, which is what this one is. The guy that has it I contacted, says its for a LCD monitor and can't be used for a scope, which is stupid since it is a universal. So can someone check this out and let me know, so I will know which way to go on this?

    Minion:

I will not run any of my scopes off an A/C adapter ....NOT here in Maryland anyway because of the number of Electrical outages and especially VOLTAGE spikes we have...

My only Meade (a Gem mount) and both my Celestrons (both fork mounted) ARE NOT FUSED to protect them from voltage spikes...

I use a 12 V 35 Am handicapped Mobility scooter/wheelchair battery...designed to be fully discharged and then recharged DAILY yet last for years...not very large, (about the size of a Motorcycle battery...built in carrying handle ...lasts the entire weeekend at star parties..

Check and see if the Meade is used...otherwise send the money on cheap insurance (the Battery) ... Just my opinion...

Oh and Congratulations on the scope...

I was actually thinking about this as well, the battery, not the spikes in voltage. But thats another thing to think of, so thanks for mentioning that. I do have one of those jump start battery packs that has a cigarette lighter output on it which I could hook to the scope. As well, I would have to have a LONG extension cord to run the ac pack.

On the eyepiece question? I'd get the Hyperion Zoom.

I hate focus shift and using that zoom will minimize the need to deal with it.

You're likely looking at the one sold by Agena Astro? I've done very well purchasing from them.
