    Arrow A ROAD to SPACE

I was watching different videos of space and saw that NASA sent more than 2 dozens space shuttle to build the SPACE station. For this huge amount of energy is used to lift the shuttle from earth to space.

    Now what I was thinking...

If we can make a ROAD from earth to space may be we will be able to send many things from earth to space with very less amount of energy.

    Now my idea is .....

We can set a cable from earth to a large space station. Some Carriers will be attached on that cable. This carriers will be used to transport all the things. It will be something like...the carriers will climb with the help of the cable. Therefore, it will require very less amount of energy. For example, if you want to jump 100 feet high you will need more energy compare to climbing 100 feet.

pls make comment on this idea......

Trick is that until we fully develop carbon nanotube technology or something similar, we won't have cable strong enough to haul things into space.

There are other ways too, check them from wikipedia, that are buildable right now (but won't be built because most of money goes into war and social welfare).

This sounds an awfully lot like a thing called an "elevator." Quite interesting things, those elevators. New propulsion techniques are the way of the future, not a dinky elevator that will get chucked off.

The problem with a space elevator is the CABLE!

No one has yet designed an ACTUAL cable that could support it's own weight all the way to low Earth orbit. There have been scientific discussions about how this might be done, but NO ACTUAL cable that would work.

    Thankyou everyone for your comments.

Yah it sounds like elevator or cable car. Yes, the material of the cable need to be very light and strong. Because weight can be a big problem.

But somehow if it is possible to make. it will be a green transportation system. Because every time a space shuttle is going to space it is making so much pollution in earth. and day by day it will be increasing.

No it does not! Space shuttle has very clean work cycle. You see... rocket must carry their own oxydizer - so every bit of fuel is burned away efficently. They are not cheap to make but they are more green than toyota prius (for the ammount of power they produce).

to many problems with space elevator, i think someone already said it but imho i think that we will discover a new propulsion system that will be super dooper efficient! imagine controlling the gravitron, or some thing else just an example...
