I've been learning about the focuser help in sharpcap and also the histogram. I understand these much better now so, when the rainy skies clear here I'll be straight out to see if I can put it into practice

One question though please. Would it work to set up an LED with a black background some distance away to use as a target to practice on sharpcap? This may sound daft but I thought I could do this on cloudy evenings?

    Thankyou

Have you bought a barthinov mask to help you focus . Im not sure what scope your using so perhaps a distant light would help..

I made a mask for my 114mm scope but now I have 130eq skywatcher and I dont want to remake! Was just thinking a light "may" let me understand the focus tool on sharpcap better before I go out capturing planets. I dont have any tracking so all my capturing is done via the slo-mo controls manually....trying to get focus, histogram etc at the same time I'm finding a rush so dont believe I've got the best AVI I can
