Default Question about a Bahtinov Mask for my Dob

    Hey all,

I am just wondering if getting a Bahtinov mask for my Push 10" Dob would work out when imaging planets? I know you can't use the planet with it, but was curious about focusing on a nearby star as I read on the internet then going back to the planet after focus. Should the planet (Let's say Jupiter since I will mainly be imaging that for while) be in the same focus as a nearby star that I used the Bahtinov mask with it?

I have a Bahtinov mask for my Refractor and love it that is why I am curios about seeing how it will work with helping getting better focus on planets using a nearby star or a certain star that people have used before that is suitable for the planet focus.

    Thanks in advanced,

Yes, the focus is the same for all astronomical objects.

Thanks Oz that answers that question and I never knew that. That would save me a lot of time then. I always did the imaging and then stack them in AS and wait to see the focus then adjust it which would usually take about 25 min or so then still fiddle with focusing during the main imaging adjusting it slightly to have different images just in case it wasn't in focus (doubting myself lol).
