Default December 2017 Beginner Astrophotography Award.

The AF.net moderator team is proud to announce our December 2017 Beginner Astrophotography Award.

The StarTools software is being presented to Hillrat (Brent)

Brent was selected randomly based on his recent discussion about beginning the Astrophotography journey.

We hope that the StarTools software will help him along with the deep sky stuff.
    __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________
StarTools is a new image post-processing application, designed from the ground up for astronomical images.
Its novel non-linear processing engine does away with the limitations traditional astrophotography packages impose, while leap frogging such packages in areas of signal preservation and noise reduction.

We want to thank Ivo (member irwjager) for his generous donation to our effort to assist and grow our members participation to this portion of the Astronomy hobby.

For more information on StarTools, here’s a link to the website: StarTools, Image Processing Software for Astrophotography

Congratulations again to Brent and we look forward to seeing some great images posted on AF.net!!!

I greatly appreciate this gift and honor (if it wasn't for bad luck.... well you know the rest). Thank you to Ivo and the team here on Astronomy Forum and members who have opened my eyes to AP. I've read a bit about this software tool and am sure it can't do anything but help my raw images!

To date the curve has been steep. I seem to have the ability to have my finished product look worse than my raw data. I can't even blame the software I'm presently using. We all have to start somewhere. Buy the looks of my trials to date there is nothing but room for improvement.

Many of us old guys are often left wondering if we utilized the full potential of software we use. I will commit to giving this gift a fair shot, and probably end up bugging someone for assistance.

    Thank you.

Congrats! I'm just starting to get into things myself. I may have a steep learning curve, but it's going to be fun.
