Default Just curious - what causes this?

It's not actually a problem since it never occurs in my light frames but curious to know what causes it? This is just a preview capture in BYEOS of Jupiter. I was using AT to center. It's way over-exposed, I know, but what causes that grid pattern? It's never in any other exposures, just in preview shots of very bright objects. I think iso was at 1600, 10s exposure, modded 550D with Baader IR filter.

Some sort of reflections on the sensor?

Chris, it does look like reflections off the sensor's pixels? I've never seen that happen before, but I guess anything is possible, given the right conditions. It looks as if the image is a crop, which would certainly magnify the issue.

Are you sure it's not in every image...??

    Cheers...Paul

The original is full resolution but is a jpg produced by BYEOS for Astrotortilla. I reduced it by 30% in PS to post here.

I have never seen it in any of my subs - even at 900 seconds. It is only seen when something really bright is way over-exposed.

I agree with Paul it does look like a reflection of the pixels.
