    Default Ooohhh, It arrived today!

I ordered this over 2 months ago and now it's here.... Astro-Tech AT65EDQ!

    That little thing is heavy!

Time to try some wide field stuff. Can't wait to try it but unfortunately there's a really bright moon out there AND I have to go to a conference until Saturday.

It's looking like I'll have plenty of time to try when I get back though, northern California is in a drought. I've had less than 2 inches of rain since July. It was 75F and sunny out today! In mid January! No clouds or rain forecast for the next 2 weeks. I may have jinxed myself but that's OK too because we need the rain!

Hot Damn, but she's a Pretty Little Thing !!

OK, now get it mounted up - so that you start the "New Equipment Curse" Clock under the Full Moon and possibly have good weather for the New Moon.

Just realized I will need a way to attach my Canon to the scope since I've been using an SCT which has a different adapter.

Should I get a 1.25" or 2" camera adapter? This scope can use either. Any recommendations? I already have a t-ring.

I forgot that I do have one of these:
    http://www.amazon.com/Orion-1-25-Inc...camera+adapter
Will that be adequate or would I be better off with something else?

    2 inch - 2 inch - 2 INCH !!

Whenever you have the choice, ALWAYS opt for the 2 inch adapter when you are working with a DSLR.
Unfortunately, the 1.25in adapters are like looking through a Straw...

You probably also need an Extension Tube, as if I remember reading it in the Astronomics write-up your New Baby has 110mm of Back-Focus !!
(It's always easy to call Astronomics, or OPT, or Woodland Hills - and asking their experts...)

Yes, 110mm of back focus. So I'll need an extension too then?

Yes, about 35-50mm. (I'm figuring 45mm for the T-Ring and another 10-15mm for the T-Adapter, leaving 10-20mm for focusing.)

Check out the Ho-tech SCA t-adapter - it'll keep your camera centered in the drawtube and tamp down vibrations (it's 2").

I had this scope and needed a 35mm extender to reach focus with a DSLR.

    Congrats!
